Recently, some of our readers have encountered an error message regarding a Solaris 10 mirrored boot disk. There are a number of factors that can cause this issue. Now let’s talk about some of them.
Quick and Easy PC Repair
This document describes the steps for mirroring specific boot computers running the Solaris x86 Operating System
– Using Solaris Volume Manager from Solaris 10 x86 Update 3 (1/06) or later
The reason for using this method is in what GRUB introduced with Solaris 10 x86 Update Unique (1/06).
Earlier versions of Solaris are not protected in this document. For Solaris releases earlier than Solaris 10 x86 Update 1 (1/06), see the Solaris Volume Manager Administrator’s Guide
-x86: How to create a RAID 1 volume from the root (/) filesystem, essentially using DCA < br> http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E18752_01/html/816-4520/tasks-mirrors-21.html#frkde
Mirroring the Solaris boot disk through Volume Manager is no longer tracked on Solaris 11.
For SPARC on:
Thanks, I did this before I saw your post. I can also confirm that I had to do this. Then I could copy the Solaris partition table from the boot disk to the second disk if I wanted to:

Code:
prtvtoc / dev / rdsk / $ Primary_disks2 | fmthard -s - / dev / rdsk / $ Secondary_disks2
Code:
/ sbin / installgrub -fm / boot / grub / stage1 / boot / grub / stage2 / dev / rdsk / $ Secondary_disks0
Finally, update another hard drive as an alternative in the bootpath / solaris / bootenv.rc file. (This can be done
by running the command)
Example: eeprom eeprom altbootpath = ””
When your family is unsure of the physical path above. It is suggested to use
. functionnext command:
Code:
# mark vii / dev / dsk / c # t # d # s #This example was taken on the X2100 platform:# ls -la / dev / dsk / c2d0s0lrwxrwxrwx only some root sept 48.five different 21:35 / dev / dsk / c2d0s0 -> ../ .. Les / devices / pci @ 0,0 / pci-ide @ 7 / ide @ 1 / cmdk @ 0 , 0: aThe ride that needs to be added to each bootenv.rc file is the eeprom.ls -la / dev / dsk / $ Secondary_disks0# eeprom altbootpath = "/ pci-ide @ 7 / ide @ 1 / cmdk @ 0,0: a"
