I’m sure you’re familiar with the traditional method of exiting a running Windows Task Manager. This method is successful, but not as interesting as leaving the prompt being processed. Also, killing processes on the command line gives you a lot more control, like being able to kill multiple processes at the same time here.
All this is possible with the TaskKill command. Let’s start with the basics. You can terminate a process by referring to its ID (PID) or image name (EXE filename).
How do I kill multiple processes in Windows?
All you have to do is open the program and use Shift+click and/or CTRL+click to select multiple buildings. Then click the “Kill” button or press the F4 key.
Open an administrator-level command prompt and run the task list to see the running processes virtually:
C:> Task ListImage Name Session Name PID #_Support
========================= = = ================================================== ================================================= ================================================= =====================
================firefox .exe 26356 Console™ €139,352 Regedit K
.exe - console - 24244 9.768K
cmd.exe 18664 console 2.8K host
2.8K Exse - ß’ – – 2528 7,852K
notepad. exe - Console - In364 7.892K
notepad.exe - In696 22.028 Console - K
Notepad - Console - 25304 5.852K Explorer.exe 2864 Console 72232K
In the example above, you can see the video title and PID for each solution. If you want to corrupt the Firefox process, run:
C:>Taskkill /IM firefox./F
C:>Taskkill exe /PID 26356 /F
The /f flag can be described as forcefully terminating a process. Not using the /F flag will do nothing in some cases. Like when I just want to exit explorer. exe, I have to use the /f flag, otherwise the process simply won’t exit.

The real power of Taskkill lies in the filtering options that allow you to use future variables and operators.
You can use variables and agents with the /FI filter flag. For example, let’s say you want to terminate all market processes that contain a window title launched while using the “Internet”:
C:>taskkill /FI "WINDOWTITLE Internet equivalent*" /F
C:>taskkill /FI "USERNAME eq Steve" /F
It is possible to kill a process running on a remote machine at the same time while taskkill is present. To get rid of notepad.exe on a remote computer named /S stevedesktop, simply run the following command:
c:>taskkill SteveDesktop /U RemoteAccountName /P RemoteAccountPassword /IM notepad.exe /F
How do I kill a Windows not responding process?
The usual way to end unresponsive, hung, or hung applications in Windows is to open the Task Manager, right-click on a process, and select End Task. You can, of course, try to close the implementation with Alt+F4, but this may not help if the process is hung.
To learn more about taskkill, run it with a real /? like other types of Windows commands.

How do I kill all processes?
The easiest way to kill a bunch of related processes right now is with the killall command. The Linux kill all command first sends a notification to each running daemon. If you don’t need to specify a signal domain name, SIGTERM is sent by default.
The functions of the Task Manager can be easily performed using command-line-modeled tools, Tasklist and Taskkill. Withdrawal is a two-step process.
- First, we need to get the process ID using Tasklist,
- Second, we need to extract the program using Taskskill.

Nevertheless, here’s what you need to know. Today, an application is built around small programs, each with its own process ID. Example It Chrome has one PID for the extension, one for the subroutines, etc. It’s not easy to find the primary process, i.e. the parent identification program H. So if you want to kill the application, it’s better to use the process name to close it.
