Quick and Easy PC Repair
Over the past week, some of our users have encountered a known error message stating that defaultapppool is not valid. static compression is disabled. This problem can arise for several reasons. Let’s discuss this below.
I liked the “Static compression will be disabled without error” feature in Event Viewer. This had no side effects for the user, but SCCM continued to send email notifications of this.
Error ID 2264: The C: inetpub temp IIS Temporary Compressed Files domain.com directory specified for compressed cached content items is not working. Static compression is associated with disabling
Environment Settings
- IIS Server is Windows Server, hereinafter R2
- There are several hosted sites on the server side.
- Anonymous authentication is enabled. It uses the application pool ID.
- Static compression is enabled on both the server and the workspace website. Static compression folder fits
C: inetpub temp IIS Temporary Files
- There are compressed subfolders when visiting the website. Most of the files are owned by the administrator.
Solution
Setting the linked application’s bank account as the owner of certain types of subfolders in IIS temporary compressed files fixed the issue. Example: local accountingThe th entry IIS APPPOOL domain.com
must point to the owner of the domain.com folder.
In order – change the folder, follow the owner, all the steps are below:
- Delete folder
- Create it with the same name
- Right-click and select Properties.
- Select “Security”. Click Advanced.
- Click Edit to display the owner field above.
Additional Information
If the compression folder is actually created by the IIS application pool as part of yours, which is a member of the Administrators group, the folder will be owned by the local Administrators group. IIS checks existing compression folders in case the application pool starts. If the program does not have it, it tries to delete and recreate the folder, causing some of the above errors.
I get the error “Static compression is actually disabled” in a viewer event while viewing the web server logs. Error, this did not cause a problem for the user, but it has been reported SCCM.

Environment And Options
Here is some more important information about the server and the issue:
- Operating system – Windows Server 2012 R2
- The web server hosts more than 12 websites.
- Only Anonymous Authentication is enabled
- Anonymous Authentication uses the Application Pool ID.
- Static compression is actually enabled at the server and online storage level.
- Static compression folder:
C: inetpub temp IIS Temporary Compressed Files
- There are subfolders for both application pool and website … The drivers for these folders are Administrators, with the exception of the DefaultAppPool folder (the owner is of course the DefaultAppPool itself)
- No warning for another server,
% systemdrive%
to the static compression folder in use, whichnot recommended
Note. If you notice 500.19 when the client stops the service, you might have a problem other than a bug in the dynamic compression module as described in this tag: logs IIS 500.19 if the program interrupts connection when loading your website
Solution For “Static Compression Is Currently Disabled” Error
It is best to use the Application Account Pool as the preferred parent for subfolders in IIS temporary compressed files. Example: IIS APPPOOL domain.com
The local account must own the domain.com folder.
To change ownership, follow the solutions below for each folder.
- Delete this particular folder
- Create it with the same name
- Then right-click and select Properties.
- Go to “Security” €. Click “Addok.
- Click Edit above for the owner company.
Additional Information
If a specific compression folder is created by an IIS application pool ID that belongs to the local Administrators group, that folder belongs to the Local Administrators group, not the program ID setting. IIS checks the ownership of the display compression folders when the application starts sharing. If not a professional he will try to delete the folder and create it. The following application pools go into an infinite loop when trying to delete and recreate a file, resulting in the error “The directory specified to retrieve the contents of the compressed cache is not valid.”

Microsoft Official Documentation .
I see the error message “Static compression is often disabled ”in Event Viewer when viewing the logs of some web servers. Error, not a user issue, but SCCM reported it anyway.
Invalid directory C: inetpub temp IIS Temporary Files domain Compressed.com for caching compressed content. Static data compression disabled
Environment And Options
- The operating system can be described as Windows Server 2012 R2
- Instead of 12 websites, the web hosting server is hosted anonymously.
- Authentication only enabled
- Anonymous authentication uses application pool credentials
- Static compression is now enabled at the server level and from the company site
- Folder static compression is
C: inetpub temp IIS Temporary Compressed Files
- There are subfolders for almost all application / website pools. The purchaser of these folders is the administrator of the included folder DefaultAppPool (must be the owner).
- There is no warning for another server that may generate
% systemdrive%
during Static Compression folder, which is really not recommended.
Prnotice. If you encounter 500.19 when the client aborts the installation, you may have a bug in the dynamic compression module as described in this information: IIS – 500.19 connects when the program disconnects while loading website
Solution For “Static Compression Disabled” Error
It is best to have application pool accounts as feline owners of subfolders in IIS temporary compressed files. Example: IIS APPPOOL domain.com
The local account must own the domain.com folder.
To change ownership, follow these steps for each case.
- Delete the folder
- Created with the same name.
- Go right and select Properties.
- Go to “Security” €. Click Advanced.
- Click Edit for the owner slot above.
Additional Information
If the functional compression folder is created with By using the IIS Application Pool ID, which is a factor in the Local Administrators group, the file belongs to the Local Administrators group, not the Phase ID. IIS checks the ownership of the last compression folder when the application starts. Therefore, if it is not the owner of the animal, he will try to delete the recording and play it back. The following application pools entered an endless loop while trying to delete and recreate a directory, resulting in the error “The directory specified when caching compressed content is invalid.”
